Dear IGS Members
Earlier this year, the Executive Committee recognized that it would be necessary to review and update the original IGS constitution. This was required to comply with updated Charity Regulator standards and to reflect current-day operations of the IGS. A compliant and updated constitution is also essential to ongoing IGS fundraising endeavours.
Following a request by IGS in May, Arthur Cox Solicitors generously agreed to act for the Irish Gerontological Society and work with the Executive Committee on a pro bono basis in assisting it with an update to our constitution.
Below for your consideration is a copy of the proposed updated constitution. If you have any substantive concerns or questions about the new draft, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
A vote will be taken at the IGS Annual General Meeting on 1st October 2020 to approve and adopt this new constitution. A copy of the original constitution is also available below.
Dr Diarmuid O’Shea, President of the Irish Gerontological Society
